Title: Director, Carbon Solutions

Remote Based

Job Summary:

The Director of Carbon Solutions is a strategic leadership role focused on advancing the Company's carbon strategy and driving initiatives that align with the company's sustainability goals. This position requires expertise in carbon markets, carbon intensity (CI) models, and voluntary carbon markets, including CORCs (Carbon Offset Reduction Credits). The Director will lead the development and execution of carbon-related strategies, optimize revenue from carbon credits, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead Commercial Carbon Strategy and Execution:

  • Develop and drive the company’s carbon strategy, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives and sustainability goals.
  • Oversee the execution of carbon initiatives, including improvements in carbon intensity (CI), carbon credit generation, and market engagement.

2. Carbon Intensity (CI) and Valuation Models:

  • Develop and own carbon intensity and carbon valuation models for commercial use, ensuring they reflect accurate and current market conditions.
  • Collaborate with sustainability engineering and data analysis teams to validate and refine models and assumptions.

3. Voluntary Carbon Markets & CORCs:

  • Spearhead the Company’s strategy in the voluntary carbon markets, focusing on maximizing revenue from CORCs and other carbon credit instruments.
  • Collaborate with sustainability, regulatory, and product development teams to ensure that the Company’s offerings are aligned with market needs and evolving regulatory landscapes.
  • Build and sustain strategic partnerships to enhance the Company’s influence and market share in the carbon credits space, ensuring competitive positioning.

4. Carbon Market Development:

  • Lead efforts in carbon market development, representing the Company with leading organizations, NGOs, and at industry events.
  • Drive the company’s participation in voluntary carbon markets and regulatory frameworks to strengthen our market presence.

5. Carbon Trading and Accreditation:

  • Oversee the creation and management of a carbon trading accreditation and distribution capability, including insets, offsets, and other carbon instruments.
  • Ensure that carbon trading practices are compliant with industry standards and maximize financial returns.

6. Risk Management:

  • Develop and manage a robust risk management program for carbon credits, mitigating financial and reputational risks.
  • Continuously assess and refine risk management strategies in response to market dynamics and regulatory changes.

7. Product Registry and Systems Integration:

  • Interface with internal and external systems to develop and manage a comprehensive product registry system for carbon credits.
  • Ensure the registry is robust, transparent, and aligned with market standards for tracking and verifying carbon credits.

8. Revenue Optimization:

  • Drive carbon-related revenue through optimized pricing strategies, leveraging market data, and strategic insights.
  • Monitor market trends to adjust pricing and sales strategies, maximizing revenue from carbon credits and related products.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years in carbon markets, sustainability, or related fields, with a proven track record of leading successful carbon strategies.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of carbon intensity, carbon credits, and voluntary carbon markets, including CORCs and carbon valuation.
  • Leadership: Proven leadership abilities with experience managing cross-functional teams and leading strategic initiatives.
  • Market Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of carbon markets, insets, offsets, voluntary carbon credits, and regulatory environments.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills with the ability to represent the Company externally and collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Education: A degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications in carbon management are highly desirable.
