Field Engineer - Iowa Remote / Hybrid
Job Description Summary:
The Field Engineer position provides overall project support to the Director of Construction and the Construction Management group for various client locations. The Field Engineer role is a key function for all office and field-related project activities and will support the project team to ensure seamless communication and project execution between the Construction Team, office, 3rd party engineering firms, the field, and the client. The Field Engineer should be able to understand all phases of construction activities and the project delivery process, and could accurately and promptly communicate with the leadership team, all vendors/suppliers, and key facility management personnel and contractors. The Field Engineer must understand and be competent to address engineering/project budget issues and ensure all timelines are met or exceeded. Additionally, the Field Engineer must take the necessary corrective solutions to mitigate any budget constraints.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
The role of the Field Engineer is to support construction projects.
The Field Engineer will ensure the smooth and timely execution of the detailed engineering package requirements as submitted by the process engineering team. The Field Engineer will work directly with other process engineering team members to ensure their work is accurate, detailed and timely to ensure all client delivery dates are met. The Field Engineer will report to the Director of Construction from the IA office.
It is expected that the Field Engineer will assist in system start-ups at the company client properties as needed.
Key roles, responsibilities and skills include the following:
· Updating engineering and procurement schedules with current commitment dates.
· Reviews, equipment drawings, general arrangements, and can-do accurate Quality Control checks.
· Receives, records and distributes shop drawings from manufacturers and fabricators and drawing submittals from contractors.
· Assembles and transmits design document packages to clients and other engineering firms.
· Maintains project related data and document filing system, especially on project specific folders and ftp site.
· Updating engineering and procurement schedules with current commitment dates
· Works to maintain the schedule commitments by working with engineering teams and equipment suppliers
· Receives Requests for Information (RFI) from contractors and can either answer the questions directly or find the answer with appropriate FQT expert.
· Supports procurement activities, including tracking, expediting, and receipt verification at construction sites.
· Demonstrated ability to effectively and efficiently communicate across the entire project team
· Highly proficient in project management and project execution environment
· Always instill a high-quality work environment as well as demonstrating a strong QA/QC process for all project management workflows
· Assured document control (i.e. project proposals, contracts, change orders, budget, financial and monthly reporting, etc.) are included and properly filed in the project folder. Maintains an updated Project Access database
· Creates bid list, e-mail bid invitation, make follow-up calls to bidders, and prepare bid label and/or bid form.
· Create project information sheet and distribute to PM and project team
· Draft purchase orders and change orders to subcontractors.
· Obtain quotes for items specified on plans as directed by the PM and Process Engineer
· Compile Operator & Maintenance manuals with warranty information. Duplicate the binder company files. (Request operational and maintenance information, plus as-builts from subs/suppliers)
· Main contact for the client on the jobsite and contractors for the company.
· Provide support for client annual shutdowns.
Qualifications:
· 3+ years of experience in construction-related engineering
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy
· Excellent communicator with internal and external customers/clients
· Maintains a high level of professionalism, productivity, and effectiveness even during challenging situations with internal and external clients, vendors, and contractors
· Acts safely at all times, whether at the office or at the client’s facility
· Highly proficient in Microsoft Office products
· Must be prepared to work evenings and weekends on occasion to meet project schedule deadlines
Additional Requirements:
· Must have proven abilities and skills in leadership, client relations, delegating, planning, organizing, problem solving, conflict resolution, high safety standards, and cost management control. Successful candidate must set standards of excellence in quality and productivity.
Travel: Travel of up to 100% could be expected at various times with this position. Travel expense is reimbursed directly to the employee.
