Job Title:  Control Systems Engineer

Location: Remote

About the role:

The Control Systems Engineer is responsible for technical support for industrial controls utilized in the manufacturing process.

 

Who you are:

·        Develop and maintain current standards and specific control type and configuration for new equipment and current used in the manufacturing process.

·        Develop and maintain required documentation to support controls applications used in the manufacturing process, including operation and maintenance.

·        Oversee installation of control systems on new and/or existing equipment – Make programming changes that are required to maintain and improve the manufacturing process.

·        Analyze and recommend improvement to manufacturing processes, which will benefit from automation techniques.

·        Train production and maintenance personnel in control operations, maintenance and programming functions.

·        Maintain compliance with company policies, quality standards, safety standards and OSHA compliance.

·        Understanding of instrumentation and how to implement

·        Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting in support of day-to-day Operations activities

·        Assist operations in process monitoring and control (off hours DCS support)

·        Support process improvement initiatives

·        Develop and implement process control schemes and control techniques.

·        Tune existing process controllers.

·        Routine hardware and software maintenance of Delta V DCS systems.

·        Develop and implement alarm management strategy

·        Assist project engineers and develop new control schemes.

·        Assist project engineers and operations in developing and maintaining P&ID’s.

·        Develop and review control logic on PLCs.

·        Maintain and optimize advanced process control programs

·        Manage 3rd party EPCs on implementation of control systems for NZ projects

Requirements and Experience

·        Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering with process control experience or Electrical Engineering degree with chemical industry experience or computer engineering with chemical industry experience.

·        Understanding of design, implementation and maintenance of SIS.

·        Delta V experience preferred.

·        Ability to communicate well with others.

·        Strong written and verbal presentation capabilities, with the ability to make presentations as required.

 

 

Physical Requirements

This position operates in a process plant environment with strict safety, regulatory and conduct standards. The individual may be exposed to noise, heat, and other elements in outdoor and indoor environments. While performing duties of this position, the individual may be exposed to moving, mechanical parts, dusty conditions, high noise levels and chemicals. Specific physical requirements include:

·        Occasionally working in confined spaces,

·        Wearing proper respiratory protection,

·        Occasionally lifting weight up to 50#,

·        Climbing several flights of stairs and ladders,

·        Bending, twisting, and turning while lifting weights up to 50#,

·        Sitting at a desk for extended periods of time,

·        Working at heights and temperatures from -20 to 100+ degrees,

·        Standing for extended periods of time,

·        Working on elevated platforms and surfaces.
